We love weekly grocery store runs for fresh flowers, but how convenient would it be to receive a bouquet right on your doorstep? That’s the beauty of a flower subscription service—your house will burst with colorful petals and sweet scents every month (or several times per month) like clockwork.
A flower subscription service works as follows: you sign up for recurring deliveries, and experts select seasonal blooms, arrange them, and ship them directly to you. We tested several popular options firsthand to find out which delivers the best, brightest blooms for the best value.
Over two months, we excitedly received these deliveries, got out our floral shears, and displayed the bouquets on our entryways, kitchen tables, and holiday centerpieces, too.
We assessed the quality of the flowers when they arrived and how long they stayed perky (spoiler: some of the bunches stayed fresh for over two weeks!), and found seven that we would recommend to anyone, including floral novices and experienced florists.
Out of the 10 flower subscriptions we tested, Urban Stems stood out for its simple, customizable delivery schedule, expert insight on providing the best care for your flowers, and a clear commitment to freshness and quality.
When testing Urban Stems, signing up for the subscription couldn’t be easier—the cancellation policy and terms were clear compared to others we’ve tested or used. They have three size options at different prices ($55, $75, or $105), and you can choose the frequency. For our test, we did a weekly delivery. Right after we signed up, we received an email full of care tips for our flowers, which we thought was a great touch, especially for those newer to bouquet maintenance.
Urban Stems actually upgraded us to a better bouquet to ensure we had the best quality flowers, even though we ordered a basic subscription. This was a nice surprise and proved how committed they are to excellence. We never had to contact customer support, and both flower deliveries came exactly on the day they were expected.
One downside is that you can’t customize the type of bouquet you receive—we loved the surprise of an unknown bouquet, but we wanted to note this for pet owners since not every bouquet will be pet-safe. Unlike one-time flower delivery orders from UrbanStems, subscriptions always include free shipping, which we think is a nice touch.

Great email updates and communication
We chose The Bouqs Co. as our best budget option, because it was the least expensive of any we tested at $48, and the bouquets were lovely. We were impressed with the big bountiful bouquet sizes and loved that the flowers were just at their peak when they arrived.
Within a few days of signing up for the subscription, we received an email with care tips and consistent communication about deliveries. The flowers came exactly when they were scheduled, although we couldn’t select a date like we could with our best overall, Urban Stems. One of our favorite features was the variety of flowers—they were all intriguing and certainly different than what you would typically find at the grocery store, like loosestrife and honeysuckle.
We received two deliveries to compare the quality, and the second impressed us even more. Both deliveries included a ton of flowers, comparable to what you would buy from a florist, but the quality of the second delivery outdid the first. The blooms were just shy of peaking, which made them last a solid week before needing any refreshing (and almost two weeks before wilting!)
As mentioned, the first delivery did include a few stems that were lacking in quality. Some of the branches were snapped and lower leaves were wilted. But, these were few and far between, and the second shipment proved that The Bouqs Co. does take quality seriously.

For rose lovers, look no further than BloomsyBox—this service had some of the best roses out of the ones we tested, and we were super impressed with the bouquet. It outlasted every bouquet we ever received previously, looking upright and blooming after almost two and a half weeks.
It was extremely easy to sign up for this service, and you can choose an exact delivery date, which is helpful (so you can grab your flowers from the front door quickly). We received several updates about our order, and it was delivered exactly on the day it said it would be.
The condition of the bouquet was outstanding, which was probably the most noteworthy feature of this service. There was no leakage, mess, or wilted stems upon arrival, which we’ve encountered with other services. After using the included flower food and adding water periodically, these lasted over two weeks before we had to get rid of them.
There is no customization with this subscription, sadly, but we think it could be fun if you like a surprise bouquet or are low-maintenance when it comes to flower preferences. We thought the colors were a little loud for our neutral taste, but they matched our Thanksgiving table perfectly.
That said, BloomsyBox is one of the more expensive options on the list, so if customization is important to you, we think The Bouqs Co, our best budget option, would suit your style.

Enjoy Flowers was a standout for high-quality flowers that feel straight from a florist. The bunch we received would make the perfect gift for someone special (or you could save them for yourself!). There were over 30 stems in the bunch and bonus inclusions (like extra stems or add-ins), all at an excellent value.
When we tried out the subscription for ourselves, setup was a breeze, with clear, constant communication about deliveries. Unfortunately, you cannot choose the size or stems included, but each is “artist-designed” and we were really happy with what we received.
Since it’s a seasonal bouquet, the flowers will be themed around the season—ours were decked out in pinecones, eucalyptus, and red roses for Christmastime, and we thought each stem looked healthy and garden-fresh. The flowers also come with a bonus item—the first time, they came with a succulent on a stick, which we replanted and is still alive!
The lack of customization is important for pet owners, so keep that in mind to keep your furry friends safe. We also found cancellation a bit perplexing; while testing, we were a bit confused about which option we were choosing at first—we almost paused instead of canceling our subscription—so make sure you are clicking on the right option.

1-800-Flowers blew the competition away when it came to variety—they pride themselves on having a huge selection available during any season, like big ranunculus blooms and smiling sunflowers. We love how they partner with local florists to complete your order, include a vase with every shipment, and add a multitude of varieties in one bouquet.
When subscribing to a recurring bouquet delivery, you can choose what size you want at various price ranges and schedule the delivery date and cadence, though you can’t choose the flowers. We did get confirmation via email that the delivery was scheduled, though our best overall and best budget (Urban Stems and The Bouqs Co., respectively) were much more communicative.
1-800-Flowers is the spot for variety if you’re looking to send a unique bouquet or a specific set of flowers. When we received our flowers, they were in great condition and weren’t limited by what was in season, which we liked. It felt similar to going and picking out a bouquet on our own.
We encountered a $19.99 service charge per delivery, plus local tax, so the cost was much higher than anticipated. We don’t think this should deter you from using 1-800-Flowers, as the choiceness and value still shined, but you might wind up paying more than expected.

Farmgirl Flowers has the loveliest floral varieties for DIYing an arrangement and is perfect for lovers of rustic wildflowers, like dahlias, ranunculus, and peonies. Our flowers were nearly in bloom when they arrived and lasted well over a week, but our favorite element of this service is the unique assortment of flowers delivered—Farmgirl Flowers’ motto is that every bouquet always looks different and is personal to each customer and were we definitely impressed by our arrangement.
We couldn’t customize the bouquet, but we could choose the delivery frequency and date. They also offered us a few optional add-ons, like vases and shears, in case we needed them to arrange the bouquet. We also received frequent email communication about the delivery, and it came right on time.
The bouquet was huge—you would have to use your largest vase to fit it all, but we love that this was big enough to split into smaller bouquets to disperse around our house. The flowers were arranged almost perfectly, but thanks to the large bundle, we were able to play around and arrange our own smaller bouquets, too.
We did have to reach out to customer support, as our subscription was coming up on the website as a single order rather than a subscription, and they weren’t able to help us change it. However, we were super impressed by the excellence of our first delivery and are assessing Farmgirl Flowers based on this.

While testing, the Flower of the Month Club stood out for its seasonally intuitive bouquets—the flowers used are all in season during the delivery month, which makes for the freshest, most beautiful delivery. We also loved the personalization of the bouquets. The blooms come from different countries and include cards explaining their background and why the florist chose them.
The Flower of the Month Club also impressed us with its subscription options. You can select how many months you’d like the subscription—this avoids forgetting to cancel it and makes it perfect for gifting a few deliveries to someone (since it would be prepaid and they don’t have to worry about canceling it).
Though you cannot customize your bouquet, this allows the experts behind Flower of the Month Club to choose the most in-season flowers and ensure the highest quality of delivery, which we love. We got lilies, sunflowers, and peonies in our bunch that were both just a few days ahead of peak bloom upon arrival, and they all lasted about a week before wilting.
We think this service could be improved by offering an option to skip months or swap out the type of flower featured, especially if you have pets in your home. But the first-rate condition of the flowers and the thoughtful selection make this subscription one we might never cancel.

Final Verdict
Out of the 10 subscriptions we tested, our overall favorite was Urban Stems, thanks to their flexible delivery schedule, expertly selected arrangements, and commitment to freshness. We also love The Bouqs Co. for various price options, long-lasting bouquets, and unique flowers (we never saw honeysuckle in a bouquet before this one).
How We Tested Flower Subscription Services
We readied our vases, scheduled deliveries, and subscribed to each of these services for two months. Many peonies and pansies later, we assessed our experience with each subscription on the following:
- Delivery Schedule: Were we able to choose a delivery date, or did the service automatically decide? We preferred services that gave us that additional flexibility of choosing a date, like Urban Stems (our best overall) and 1-800-Flowers (our best variety). We noted how simple it was to cancel a subscription, too.
- Freshness and Quality: We took note of any flowers that arrived broken, wilted, or damaged. Luckily, we didn’t encounter this often with any of the subscriptions we tried.
- How Long They Lasted: Some bouquets lasted longer than others, ranging from five days to almost two weeks, like BloomsyBox (our best for roses). Most averaged about a week of blooms, which we felt was long enough to give our stamp of approval.
- Value: Was the delivery worth the cost, and would we recommend it to a friend? Most of the deliveries ranged from $55-$100, so it was important to us that the subscription felt worthy of this cost.
What to Know Before Signing Up for a Flower Subscription
Flower Varieties Offered
If you’re going to spring for a flower subscription service instead of a trip to your local grocery store, we think the flowers offered should be varied, vast, and unique. We were impressed with services that work with local growers to ship farm-fresh flowers in a snap, like Farmgirl Flowers (our best for arranging), or ones that source international, unique flowers, like Flower of the Month Club (our best seasonal).
Frequency of Delivery
Having a flower subscription is a commitment, and some services offer more flexibility than others for how often they arrive at your doorstep. Think about your budget and the typical life-span of the flowers offered to figure out if a subscription feels right to you.
Some deliveries are fixed monthly, like Enjoy Flowers, our best premium option, while others offer options to change up the frequency of delivery. We were able to opt for a bouquet once a week from our best overall service, Urban Stems.
Extras and Add-Ons
Not everyone has a collection of vases, flower food, or pruning shears in their collection to keep and care for these bouquets once they arrive. If this applies to you, opt for a service that either comes delivered in a vase (like our best variety, 1-800-Flowers) or has additional add-on accessories that you can order with your first purchase to be set up for success. Enjoy Flowers, our best premium option actually included a freebie bonus item with every order.

Why Trust The Spruce?
This article was written and researched by Mia Ingui, an editor at The Spruce with a love of gardening and flowers. She’s arranged quite a few bouquets in her day and buys herself fresh flowers weekly as a little treat.
Ingui was a part of this flower subscription test, trying out BloomsyBox (and later giving her stamp of approval). To assess the other services, she reviewed the insights and noted the roses and thorns (literally) of the additional flower subscriptions.
