Dunelm’s autumn range has dropped, and the star of the show is without doubt the Check Ruffle Easy Fit Lamp Shade (£40), whose vintage design is perfect for adding a little charm to your home.
It may be summer, but it’s already time to start thinking about the next season’s home decor trends, and recently I was lucky enough to garner a sneak peek at Dunelm’s AW26 collections in real life.
And amongst all the goodies I spotted in person, it’s this lampshade that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. Combining bold colour with chic ruffling, it’s easy to see why this shade is turning heads, which is why you’ll want to snag yours now, before everyone else gets there first.

Check Ruffle Easy Fit Lamp Shade
The best thing about this lampshade (aside from it’s playful pink tones and chic ruffles) is that’s its drapey material diffuses light, creating a soft glow in your home. What could be more welcoming?
Previewing upcoming collections is one of my favourite parts of my job, and I’m not lying when I say the Ruffle Easy Fit Lamp Shade was one of my favourite pieces from Dunelm’s most recent preview (it’s in joint first with the Lavina Glass Tiled Coffee Table).
Included as part of the ‘Vintage Emporium’ section of the showcase, the lampshade has been designed with nostalgia in mind. It uses warm pink hues, a gingham pattern and ruffled edges to create a lampshade that looks both homely and stylish.
Nostalgia has been a driving force behind most of the interior trends we’ve seen this year, coupled with the fact that ‘70s-inspired designs are having a huge comeback, too. We want our homes to remind us of nostalgic, better times but remain stylish. We want more whimsy.
As whimsymaxxing has taken off as a trend in its own right this summer, again it’s proof that people are looking to add items to their home that are as fun as they are functional. It’s true you don’t need a bold, ruffled lampshade; a plain one will do just fine – but where’s the fun in that?
I currently have Dunelm’s Beatrice Lampshade hanging in my living room, and perhaps this is why I was so drawn to a Dunelm statement lampshade. I can vouch that the Ruffle Easy Fit Lamp Shade looked just as good in person as it does in photos.
It’s made from polyester fabric, and its ruffles bunch together to create a soft, diffused glow. I’m a big fan of diffused light as a lighting trend. Brushing aside harsh, artificial light, diffused lighting makes a room look instantly cosy and welcoming, which again creates that nostalgic feeling the shade aims for.
Despite only just going on sale, the lampshade has already racked up a couple of five-star reviews, so I predicted it would be popular. And if you’re a fan, I spotted a few more similar Dunelm designs that I think are going to sell fast.
