As I scroll through the latest high street SS26 homeware collections, one thing is becoming abundantly clear: striped tableware is going to be a huge trend this summer.
Often, many brands will opt for slightly different styles that fall under the umbrella of the year’s biggest home decor trends. However, there’s no arguing that this summer will be defined by a colourful stripe.
From stunning striped teacups at M&S to Nutmeg’s new designer-look raspberry striped vase, there is striped tableware for every budget and taste this season. So, I’ve tracked down the best examples, plus how you can style them at home.

Why is striped tableware trending?
Stripes are a timeless pattern, so honestly, it comes as little surprise that we’re seeing them in almost every tableware collection right now. An obvious example is the cult Habitat wiggle vase, which recently made an appearance on singer Raye’s Instagram account to promote her new album. I’ve also seen striped cutlery everywhere (my favourite is this £36 Next set), which looks effortlessly chic.
I’ve also spotted plenty of bold striped designs, featuring vibrant colourways, such as the Here’s How The Marley Appetiser Plates (£24) at Anthropologie, which is proof that this pattern can be playful.
‘Summer 2026 is all about embracing joyful dining experiences. Interiors are leaning into playful, uplifting touches that bring an immediate sense of happiness into the home. Stripes capture this perfectly,’ says Natalie Evans, founder and CEO of home styling and staging company Little Barn Door.
‘From bold primary hues to soft pastels and more muted tones, stripes are incredibly versatile and work across a variety of summer aesthetics. Whether you’re creating a coastal tablescape, a relaxed country cottage brunch (we like this Country Natural Cotton Tablecloth, £30, Dunelm), or a childlike ice cream parlour party (we like this 12 Piece Candy Stripes Dinner Set, £29.99 at Wilko), stripes add instant character and charm.’
Stripes are incredibly versatile, which is why they have earned the status of ‘timeless’. Not only are they suited to any style, but stripes are also so easy to style, which further widens their appeal.
‘Its versatility is what makes it so appealing. Depending on the scale and colour, stripes can feel either playful or refined. Finer, tonal stripes have a tailored, elegant quality, while bolder stripes bring energy and a sense of fun,’ explains Kunal Trehan, Interior Designer and Founder of Touched Interiors.
‘There’s also a handcrafted feel to many of the pieces available now, which adds a layer of individuality. From a styling perspective, stripes naturally frame food beautifully, making even simple dishes feel more considered.’
How to style striped tableware
As we’ve mentioned, stripes are incredibly versatile and easy to style, whilst allowing you to experiment with different colours and pattern drenching. In the context of tableware, these quirky designs can help frame your food, whilst looking effortlessly put together.
‘Stripes are wonderfully adaptable and can be introduced to your dining table in multiple ways – tablecloths, runners, napkins, or even small details like ribbon accents,’ recommends Natalie.
‘For a softer look, mix and layer different colours; for something more striking, opt for contrasting colours or a single bold colour paired with crisp white. To add extra interest, play with textures and finishes, scalloped edges, or pom-pom trims can bring a subtle sense of fun and movement to the table.’
For Kunal, balance is key.
‘Because stripes introduce movement, it’s important to ground them with softer, more understated elements,’ he says.
‘Think natural linens, wood, or stone to keep the overall look elevated. Layering works well, but it should feel intentional. You can mix stripe scales or introduce subtle secondary patterns, as long as the palette remains cohesive. For a more refined setting, pair with simple glassware and polished cutlery. For something more relaxed, lean into texture and a slightly undone feel.’
‘Stripes themselves are timeless, so they won’t date in the way more novelty patterns might. What will shift is the way they’re interpreted. The bold, colourful versions we’re seeing this summer may evolve into more muted, tonal applications over time. If chosen well, particularly in a considered colour palette, striped tableware can absolutely become a long-term staple that works across seasons,’ Kunal concludes.
