I’ve been using this Beldray 15-in-1 Steam Cleaner at home for a few weeks now, and thanks to its nifty attachments, I’ve been sanitising almost everything I can using only boiling water.

Yes, I know that’s the point of all steam cleaners, but this particular one is great as it transforms from a handheld steam cleaner to a steam mop, so you can clean your entire home, top to bottom, using only this machine. It’s also less than £70, and it’s nice and lightweight so you can lug it up and down your stairs with ease.

If you need a reason to declutter the chaos that is your under-sink cleaning cupboard, then investing in a steam cleaner and a good one, is a must. I was a total newbie to the world of steam cleaners and mops, but I can now confidently say that I am hooked. So much so that I’ve decided this is my new way to sanitise.

I’m not going to commit to using it every time I clean because, admittedly, that would be a bit of a faff as it’s a corded machine. However, when doing a deep clean or when I need to clean something tricky (like my daughter’s pram or the grout in my en-suite floor tiles), it’s undeniably handy. Plus, it means I don’t have to do as much scrubbing.

I’m a toddler Mum and a dog Mum, both of which require a lot of sanitising (IYKYK). So, I tested this machine to sanitise all sorts of things, from my linen sofa to my daughter’s IKEA high chair. I used it to clean the grease in the grout in my kitchen tiles and to clean my double patio doors. I cleaned my entire downstairs bathroom using all its attachments, and it sanitised all my carpets upstairs. It also cleaned my hard floors downstairs, plus my bed and couch cushions, too.

In a nutshell

This budget-friendly steam cleaner works well and would be a great addition to a smaller home because it’s corded. If you decide to use it in a larger home you’ll need to keep unplugging it and moving to another socket so you can reach certain places. It’s also nice and compact, and all its parts detach, so you can easily store it in a small cupboard.

A great pick for anyone on a budget as its retail price is just £69.99, it offers great value for money as it comes with a range of attachments so you can clean everywhere from your shower screen to your toilet and even your sofa using the same machine. It even comes with washable cleaning pads, so you only need to add water.

Admittedly, you might not end up using every single attachment, depending on your home and what you’ve got to clean, but you will use most of them for random cleaning jobs.

The thing I love the most about it is that it’s great for carpets and hard floors. Downstairs, my entire house is hard floors. Upstairs (except the bathrooms) it’s carpeted. Its special carpet glider makes it slide across rugs and carpets with total ease. And when cleaning hard floors it’s so satisfying and leaves them shining!

Unboxing, assembly, and first impressions

This steam cleaner arrived in a tiny box. I was convinced another box was due to come with it but had been forgotten, but I was wrong. When I unboxed the contents, everything was there. I immediately noticed that the main unit was nice and lightweight.

The packaging was minimal. A few of the attachments were wrapped in recyclable plastic for protection, but other than that it was just the box to dispose of. Hurrah!

The biggest thing that bothered me about this steam cleaner was how difficult the instructions were to follow. Normally, I thrive off a set of instructions. I can follow pretty much anything, so long as it’s presented well. The instructions that come with this machine are so confusing, and the font is tiny. There are only four diagrams, and you need to keep flipping back pages and referring to the numbered parts as there are so many of them.

I got started by reading the safety instructions, then I tried to work it out myself as I cleaned. I also found the photos on the box to be super helpful – the first thing I did was put each attachment on and off to get used to the steam cleaner and how the accessories click on and off.

Who will it suit?

While this steam cleaner does have a sizeable water tank, the fact that it’s corded can be a problem. It didn’t bother me when using it as a handheld machine but while using it as a mop, I kept finding myself getting tangled in the wire as it’s very long. I also would never use it while my child is around because it’s corded.

If I needed to stop cleaning and put it down, for whatever reason, she would be able to pull it down from a side and even when locked, it can be dangerous as the water is so hot. The machine itself doesn’t get hot to the touch, but the attachment heads do.

Bearing all of these factors in mind, paired with the fact it’s convenient to store, I’d say this is a great option for flats or smaller homes. It’s also ideal for anyone with kids (so long as you’re using it while they’re not around) or pets, as its accessories mean you can get into everything from the dog’s bed to your grubby high chair and your even dirtier pram.

What’s it like to use?

After trying each one of the attachments on the machine and familiarising myself with them all, I decided to start with the general nozzle. First things first, though, before plugging it in I used the funnel and measuring cup to fill the tank which was easy and mess-free.

Then, I plugged it in and switched it on. I started a timer on my phone and noted that it took approx 15 seconds to be ready – its red light disappears once it’s hot enough. I then pressed the lock button to unlock the machine so it was ready to use.

Just a note: you shouldn’t change heads while the machine is on or plugged in. This can be a bit of a faff but it’s a safety measure. Also, while the machine doesn’t get hot, some of the attachments do so be careful when touching them after use and perhaps use a towel to protect your hands when removing them. The mop parts, in particular, might hold some hot water in them so just be careful.

Starting with the general nozzle, I got to work on my draining board, my taps and the tiles above my kitchen sink. I was mostly getting used to the amount of steam while doing this, but I did note that it’s quite loud while using this nozzle.

It does give off an impressive amount of steam if you hold your hand on the trigger for long enough. I did notice it made a huge difference on the tiles, but this required quite a lot of steam and time! The draining board looked a little better, but truthfully, it didn’t manage to transform it.

I also tried this nozzle in my shower tray, and it worked well on the tiles there, too, but again, you need to use it for a while to see results. Essentially, it makes the dirt in the grout loose, ready for you to scrub lightly by hand.

This attachment is great for getting into corners and nooks and crannies.

Shortly after, I turned the machine off and switched to the round brush attachment to clean my draining board and taps. I did think this would do a better job than it did. I don’t think the bristles are strong enough, paired with how bad the limescale is in these areas of my home. I found it easier to use the general nozzle for this job. I did end up using this brush on my bathroom sink, though, and it worked wonders! Again, it’s quite loud in comparison to the floor attachments.

The round brush attachment needs to be used in conjunction with either the general nozzle or the straight nozzle.

I then went straight to it and switched to the upholstery nozzle. I started using this on my sofa and cushions and I loved how it slides smoothly over all types of fabric. Then I got into the nitty gritty, AKA the pram.

I was very pleased with the results and found it so easy to use, especially on the straps. I then went on to clean my daughter’s mini armchair which is normally stained with milk and littered with crumbs, but not anymore! Again, it made easy work of sanitising this tiny chair and getting into the crevices.

When used with this attachment, the steam cleaner is nice and quiet. I used this head on my sofa, which was very satisfying, as well as my cushions and my woven dining chair seats that have, admittedly, seen better days.

Lastly, I thought I would use it on my stairs. As the pile is thick on my stair carpet, it didn’t really work. The microfibre cover kept sliding off it as I was cleaning.

Thanks to the slightly confusing instructions, I initially used the mop head accessory wrong and convinced myself it didn’t work. Just so you know: The mop head and carpet glider arrive attached together.

So, you won’t be able to get the mop head onto this as it doesn’t fit. Instead, you need to detach them (they pull apart), and then you can pop the mop head onto the accessory.

This attachment was arguably my favourite and I used it to clean my living room and kitchen floors – I really couldn’t believe how much dirt it picked up, especially in my kitchen! I was truly grossed out.

This is now my favourite way to clean my floors, as I’ve noticed that the shine stays for much longer than when I use my spray mop. So, I’ll now integrate a weekly steam clean on my floors into my cleaning routine and mop with disinfectant a couple of times a week, too. Also bonus: it’s nice and quiet!

To use the carpet glider, you need to re-attach it to the mop head, on top of the microfiber cover (I would use a fresh one as you get two included). This makes the steam cleaner glide across all softer floors, from short-pile rugs to carpets.

Once I worked it out, this attachment became one of my favourites as I found it was so fast to use to sanitise all of my upstairs carpets and my large living room rug. I didn’t use it to clean my stairs as it was tricky, instead, I used the upholstery nozzle.

Again, this attachment is nice and quiet when in use.

The angled nozzle attachment is pretty niche and you won’t use it for much. Or at least I didn’t. The photo of the box shows it attached to the general nozzle to clean underneath the rim of a toilet. Otherwise, it’s great for cleaning corners. I used it for my bathroom sink, to clean around my taps and plug.

The round brush attachment needs to be used in conjunction with either the general nozzle or the straight nozzle. It can also be loud when in use.

The window and mirror squeegee attaches to the upholstery nozzle and I used it to clean my en-suite shower screen and my patio doors.

I wouldn’t use it again to clean my shower screen only because I didn’t find that it worked and it was quite difficult to get good results. It would have been a lot easier and faster to clean my shower doors by hand. I would, however, use it again on my patio doors.

I found the easiest way to use it was to press the trigger and make sure your windows are covered in steam. Then, use the squeegee part without holding the trigger for a streak-free finish. It did leave my windows shining, but it didn’t remove the tongue marks my toddler leaves me on the doors while searching for birds.

There’s a note on the instructions not to use this steam cleaner on cold or frosted glass or windows. It was also noisy like the other smaller attachments.

Also in the box comes a flexible extension hose which attaches to the main unit itself. It also pairs with the small straight nozzle to add length and a little stability, as well as the general nozzle and the upholstery nozzle. The extension tool adds flexibility so you can reach under things, like the rim of your toilet.

The small straight nozzle works to extend whichever attachment you’re using. It pairs with all the handheld attachments that come with the steam cleaner. It fits directly onto the main unit.

When it came to runtime, I didn’t manage to empty the tank on any occasion while I was cleaning. I found that the tank was sizeable enough to clean the floor in the downstairs of my house plus my sofa, car seat and dining chairs. Even then, I still had a third of a tank left after.

I do need to note that while using it to clean my sofa I placed the main unit down on my sofa, on its side to run to grab something for my daughter. When I got back, the tank had spilled out onto my sofa. So when not in use, even if briefly, you need to stand the machine upright.

Cleaning

This steam cleaner is ridiculously easy to clean. You just need to empty the water tank, should there be anything left in there, and if you’ve used either of the covers, these can go in your washing machine. I wouldn’t recommend putting these heads in the tumble dryer. But they do dry fast.

You might need to give some of the tools a wipe-down from time to time, especially if used in places like your toilet.

Storage and maintenance

One of the best things about this steam cleaner in comparison to other models is how easy it is to store. First of all: you’re going to want to keep the box. This can house your stream cleaner when not in use and sit in the corner of a cupboard. It takes up minimal space as this box is surprisingly small.

There’s no option to wall mount this steam cleaner as it all comes apart for storage. To be honest: I’ve run out of space of places to wall mount things that are also hidden away. Because I definitely don’t want these things on show in my lovely new kitchen.

There’s no on-board accessory storage, which admittedly does make it tricky to take around the house with you. I don’t live in a mansion (unfortunately) so I tend to just make a mental note of what I’m cleaning upstairs and I’ll take the tools with me up there.

How does it rate online?

Since it’s a new model, the Beldray 15-in-1 Steam Cleaner currently has no reviews on the Beldray site.

It’s also sold via Amazon, where it has a rating of 4 stars from 1,000+ reviewers. The overall verdict from these testers is that it’s easy to use and great value for money. They also love how versatile it is. Those who did have complaints wished the water tank was larger and that it was a little more powerful.

You can also buy this steam cleaner from Argos where it has one 5-star review.

How does it compare to similar models and its predecessors?

There are a few predecessors to this 15-in-1 steam cleaner. There’s the 14-in-1 model which is £10 cheaper at £59.99 but bigger to store. Its water tank is smaller at 350ml, and it doesn’t come with the angled nozzle which can reach high places and awkward corners.

Then there’s a 10-in-1 model which costs just £29.99. This is only handheld as it doesn’t come with the parts to make it into a mop. It also has a 250ml capacity.

Should you buy the Beldray 15-in-1 steam cleaner?

I definitely think it’s worth buying the Beldray steam cleaner if corded appliances don’t bother you. It’s really great for smaller homes as it’s easy to store and thanks to its range of tools, it can clean lots of surfaces and items. It’s also nice and lightweight so you can use it for a while.

I’d avoid it if in you live in a large home as the water tank might not be enough and the cord will probably annoy you, especially when in mopping/carpet cleaning mode as it’s easy to get tangled in it.

For just under £70, it’s great value for money especially since it has so many uses. And considering it only needs water to work and its microfibre heads are washable, it’s perfect.

About this review, and the reviewer

I was sent the Beldray 15-in-1 Steam Mop to clean my three-bedroom, three-bathroom home. I used it for over two weeks and tested every accessory that came with it.

I used it to clean almost everything that can be sanitised, from my daughter’s pram to the dog’s bed and the carpet on our stairs. For full transparency, I’m allowed to keep this product, and I will be reviewing more steam cleaners to compare with this one.
